NATURALLY SPEAKING SAN FRANCISCO OFFERS THE FOLLOWING SERVICES:

Consultation and/or Screenings

This is a one-time 30-40 minute session, which may include direct observations of a child as well as discussion with parents to determine whether further testing is warranted. During the session parents may be provided with information about how to facilitate language and communication for their child and or be given answers to questions regarding their child’s speech and language. A brief write up will be submitted to parents within one week’s time.

Speech and Language Evaluations

Evaluations are extensive and include review of medical records, parent interview, parent completion of checklists if applicable, observations of parent child interactions, administration of standardized testing, criterion references testing, oral motor exam, interpreting results, writing evaluation report and meeting to discuss the evaluation report. A separate report-writing fee will apply. Prior to an evaluation it will be expected that a child’s hearing and vision have been evaluated as unidentified hearing and vision impairments with invalidate evaluation results.

Therapy

Consists of 50-minute direct services to include ongoing parent training/consultation. Parent participation in their child’s therapy sessions is expected for at least 30 minutes of the 50-minute session. However, it is highly recommended that a parent/s attend the full session, as parent participation is key to a child’s improvement and success.

Preschool/Daycare Observations

Observations may be requested by a parent or recommended by Naturally Speaking San Francisco to monitor a client’s communication with peers, communication in alternative natural environments, interactions with teachers/caregivers, etc.

Transition into Kindergarten Support

It is part of CA Educational Code (educational law) that a child receives a transition IEP (Independent Educational Evaluation) if an IEP is already in place before they enroll in kindergarten. Therefore transition support may include the following: completion of a full speech and language evaluation to determine present levels of functioning before starting kindergarten, IEP review to determine if a child’s needs are all being addressed with the IEP paperwork and to review school evaluation, and attendance at a client’s transitional IEP meeting.

Miscellaneous Professional Support

Consulting or reporting including but not limited to: phone conferences, professional emails, meetings at school such as a transition IEP meeting to kindergarten, consultation/training with preschool staff and professional trainings if/when requested by parent.
